Forest escape

[ OVERVIEW ]

This cabin began as a Nordic onshore wind turbine nacelle from the early 2000s before being rebuilt by OUT & ABOUT as an off-grid shelter deep in the forests of Jämtland. It stands beyond the last gravel road, surrounded by spruce, moss and wetland. Far from infrastructure or human disturbance.

Access is on foot. An 8-kilometre approach through uneven terrain that shifts with weather and season. In summer, the forest stays light late into the night; in winter, the landscape turns silent and snowbound.

Inside, the nacelle is fitted for northern conditions - insulated, wood-heated and stripped to what matters: warmth, rest and simplicity.
This is not an attraction. It is immersion where presence replaces noise, and nature sets the rhythm fully.

FOREST CONDITIONS

Unmarked terrain through wet moss, granite and silent boreal forest. Trail-free navigation and shifting ground require awareness more than speed. This is movement at immersion pace, not mileage pace.

Food & water

There are no services or supplies on-site. Guests bring and prepare their own provisions. Potable water is sourced locally and filtered through the cabin’s off-grid system.

NATURE & PRESENCE

No villages, noise or tourism nearby Only forest, light and long northern silence. Wildlife may appear without introduction

CABIN EXPERIENCE
